Welcome to My Personal Page
When my nephew Zac Zies was seven years old, he was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia (FA), a debilitating, life shortening neuromuscular disease. It was heartbreaking when we found out, and Zac has shown incredible strength and courage ever since. Paul, my family and I have gotten involved in FARA over the past decade to find a cure. Participating in rideATAXIA has become a great to fundraise, raise awareness and build community for FA. This year, the Chicago bike ride will be taking place on July 23, and I hope you can join me in biking and fundraising for FA research.
rideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant, a young man with FA. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. He said after training for and completing his first century ride, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day. After that the sky was the limit." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $5 million to fund FA research progress. Join me in supporting the urgent pace of that research. Donate. Together we will cure FA!
