"Riding on Fumes"
I joined the Friedreich's ataxia (FA) family about 4 years and a half ago, when I decided to devote my research efforts to understand the pathogenic mechanisms of this disease and to help finding a cure. Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) is a debilitating, life shortening neuromuscular disease that affects 1 in every 50,000 people.
This Sunday October 15, my efforts will be placed outside the laboratory and I will be riding 25 miles in Philadelphia to cure FA. I’ll ride as part of the Riding on Fumes team (we as a team have already raised more than $49,000!!) with local FA families, friends and cycling enthusiasts to redefine what is possible in FA research.
rideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant, a young man with FA. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. He says after training for and completing his first century ride, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day. After that the sky was the limit." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $3 million to fund FA research progress. You should look for the screening of The Ataxian, an amazing movie featuring one of many of Kyle's achievements: http://theataxianmovie.com/
Join me in supporting the urgent pace of that research. Please donate, no matter the amount at:
Together we will cure FA!
And thank you.
