Welcome to My Personal Page
My name is Emily Baudin and live just south of Dallas, TX. I was diagnosed with a debilitating, life shortening neuromuscular disease called Friedreich's Ataxia or FA for short eight years ago at the age of 15. In December of 2015, I got married and currently pregnant with my first child, who is due in June. Thankful doesn't even begin to describe my heart. I realize in order to create the life of my dreams, I must continue to push forward. It's hard to believe but life has become immeasurbly better because of this journey. Even though it appears to others that I am losing so much, they have no idea I'm gaining so much more. I often reflect on the following statement: If you have faith, then you have hope. And if you have hope, you have everything.
On April 1st, my husband will be riding my trike and pulling me behind in a trailor. We will be crossing the finish line together to cure FA. We will also be riding with local FA families, friends and cycling enthusiasts to redefine what is possible in FA research.
rideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant, a young man with FA. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. He says after training for and completing his first century ride, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day. After that the sky was the limit." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $5 million to fund FA research progress.
Join me in supporting the urgent pace of that research. Donate. Together we will cure FA!
