Welcome to Rachel's Page!
Dear Friends and Family,
This year, I'll be riding TWICE for rideATAXIA.
June 10th, I'm partnering up with my friend Kiela Acker. Kiela lives with Friedriech's ataxia (FA) a debilitating, life shortening nueromuscular disease. Her wheelchair will be attached to my bicycle and we'll ride together! Check out Kiela's page if you get the chance- she is a very brave, strong, special woman.
July 1 - 8, I will be riding Le Peloton de L'Espoir (Peloton of Hope)- 375 miles from Strasbourg to Lyon in France!
Why? Most of you know, both my brother and sister were diagnosed with this awful disease. My brother died when he was 27. Through rideATAXIA, I've met many other inspiring, strong people living with FA, and their families. rideATAXIA has empowered me to do something about this disease- raise awareness, hope, and funds for a cure.
Please support me by donating what you can, and/ or riding with me on my team, Main-E-Ackers!
Love and thank you,
rideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant, a young man with FA. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. He says after training for and completing his first century ride, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day. After that the sky was the limit." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $5 million to fund FA research progress.
Join me in supporting the urgent pace of that research. Donate. Together we will cure FA!
