Welcome to My Personal Page
Hello Dear Friends,
May I ask for your help on behalf of another dear friend of mine?
I had the pleasure of having a bike ride with my friend Beth Bax (Rice U friends will know her as Beth Erlanson) in March 2017, for a cure of Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA), a debilitating, life-shortening neuromuscular disease, which Beth has. It is time for a next ride in 2018.
I have known Beth for over 30 years, having met in college in 1987. The bond was instant (I had befriended one of Beth’s roommates and then accidently barged in on Beth while she was in a towel).
Beth has been supportively married to Eric Bax for over 15 years (my partner and I had the honor of being able to attend the wedding), and they have two lovely daughters, Natalie and Charlotte, who we have had the privilege of seeing grow up (now teens). Beth’s daughters, besides being loving and warms souls, are horticulturists and pure animal lovers. I have had the joys of having fresh picked fruit from their backyard and of playing with their pet bunnies.
I’ll use Beth’s own words to explain the importance of the FA research and why we are biking to help speed along a cure:
“I am biking to raise money for Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) research. The pace of the research is exciting & promising - but we need to do more before I can dust off my running shoes! I have been in a wheelchair for 13 years because of this disease and I am developing other equally fun symptoms. (I fell out of my wheelchair at a gym and someone asked if that was part of my planned exercise routine....um, not so much...) And I am one of the lucky ones with this disease. I was only diagnosed at 30 because my symptoms are mild compared to others. Wheelchair = mild? That is wrong! Help me fight this #$%# disease!”
A contribution of any amount counts. So, if you are able to help us on this worthy cause, please go to http://fara.convio.net/site/TR/Events/General?px=1060165&pg=personal&fr_id=1441 for contribution details.
If you would like to make a contribution by check or other means outside of the website, you may call the FA office at (484) 879-6160, and advise them that you are making a contribution for the 2018 SoCal ride on behalf of Beth's Biking Beauties / corey spivey participant.
