Hi, my name is Lilly and I am 14 years old. I was diagnosed with Friedreichs Ataxia (FA) in May of 2017 at the age of 13. Freidreichs Ataxia is a rare neuromuscular condition that effects my balance and coordination. FA effects only about one in 50,000 people in the United States. Another way to explain FA is my brain doesn't know where my arms and legs are in space. So if close my eyes I may fall. Having Friedreichs Ataxia makes things like walking long distances, writing a large amount, and riding a bike more difficult for me than it is for other people and let's not even talk about skating, which is impossible. I hope that you will help us to find a cure!!
This will be the first year that my family and I will be participating in rideAtaxia. On March 24th, I'm riding to cure Friedreich’s ataxia (FA). I’ll be riding with local FA families, friends and cycling enthusiasts to redefine what is possible in FA research.
RideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant, a young man with FA. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. He says after training for and completing his first century ride, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day. After that the sky was the limit." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $6 million to fund FA research progress.
"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or more are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:19-20)
Join me in supporting the urgent pace of that research. Please Donate. Together we will cure FA!!!
