Hi! My name is Kate, and I am 13 years old. I was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia in May of 2016. FA makes me have trouble with my balance and coordination. My doctor says that the best way to explain it is that my brain does not know where my feet are in space. I have trouble with things most people don't even have to think about, such as carrying a glass of water across the kitchen or walking up and down stairs. I hope that you will help us!
My family and I are participating in rideATAXIA to raise awareness about FA and to raise money for FA research. RideATAXIA was founded by Kyle Bryant. Kyle redefined what was possible in his life when he took up recumbent cycling. After training for and completing his first century ride, Kyle said, "I can't even walk down the street, but I rode 100 miles in a day." Since 2007, rideATAXIA has raised over $5 million to fund FA research progress.
We'll be riding with FA families, friends, and cycling enthusiasts. RideATAXIA is a fully SAG supported ride with a 6, 25, and 50 mile course. We would love for you to join our team or register to ride on your own. If you are unable to participate, help us raise awareness by sharing our story. Donations are greatly appreciated. Every penny helps us reach our $10,000 goal.
Join us in supporting the urgent pace of FA research. Donate today. Together we WILL cure FA!
